According to Tourism and Sports Minister Sudawan Wangsuphakijkosol, water-spilling during the Songkran festival wo n’t continue for the entire month of planned festivities, as previously announced.
Songkran event activities were planned from April 1 until the end of the month, but not waters splashing, the minister said.
Ms. Sudawan stated that her ministry and the Tourism Authority of Thailand would submit the schedules and locations of Songkran-related activities statewide this month to avoid miscommunication between local and foreign tourists.  ,
The minister declared that Sanam Luang in Bangkok would host significant Songkran events from April 11 to April 15 ( Thursday through Monday ). There would be concerts, great liquid domes, floats and helicopter flying every day.
Pheu Thai Party leader Paetongtarn Shinawatra, who is also the president of the National Soft Power Strategy Committee, announced in December last year that people may be permitted to burst waters throughout April in order to make Songkran a special holiday.
The authorities made the announcement in February that Songkran event activities may be held throughout the country from April 1 through April 21.
Last week, a Taiwanese customer showed up at the Asok crossing in downtown Bangkok with a water cannon and goggles and the expectation of enjoying water splashing. He complained and was disappointed that the water event did not continue to run smoothly for the majority of the month.  ,
