Son of former Malaysian minister denies being detained at Changi Airport

According to Malaysian media, Mr. Clint Lim, the son of former Malaysian finance minister Lim Guan Eng, refuted a blogger’s claim that he had been detained at Changi Airport in February 2020 for bringing in RM2 million ( S$ 661, 000 at the time ) in cash without properly declaring the amount.

The father-and-son set are suing the&nbsp, journalist, Mr Wan Muhammad Azri Wan Deris, for libel over the state, which he made in a Twitter post on Mar 14, 2020.

They are seeking RM3 million in&nbsp, problems from Mr Wan Muhammad Azri, who writes under the name Papagomo, according to Bernama.

Mr Wan Muhammad Azri alleged&nbsp, that the alleged incident occurred on Feb 29, 2020, yet, Mr Clint Lim told the High Court in Kuala Lumpur&nbsp, that he had flown into Singapore nine weeks earlier and “was somewhere near Changi Airport” on that day.

” Although I was in Singapore on Feb 29, 2020, I was nothing near Changi Airport. At that point in time, I was working for a business as a home analyst”, Bernama reported him as saying.

” If I perhaps remember, I was with my friends at home in Singapore. It was Saturday, and it was during the COVID-19 pandemic”.

According to Bernama, the younger Mr. Lim served in Singapore between 2019 and 2021 and is currently the standard manager of a business in Penang.

Previous UMNO Youth executive committee member Wan Muhammad Azri also claimed in his position that Mr. Lim Guan Eng visited Singapore on February 29, 2020 to help his son following his alleged arrest.

The Democratic Action Party&nbsp, chairman and former Penang chief minister rejected this in court on Tuesday, saying that the inspector-general of police ( IGP ) at the time of the blogger’s post had on Mar 14, 2020, dismissed the allegations it contained.

The older Mr. Lim, according to Bernama, “refuted the state that my brother was detained by Singaporean authorities.”

He also refuted the claim that I went to the airport to engage for my son. He confirmed that it was false information.

The receiving continues on Thursday.
