Somsak Thepsutin, the minister of public health, is convinced that wise investments in the wellness and clinical sectors will contribute to a sizable portion of the country’s income this year.

Mr. Somsak convened a appointment on Friday to discuss initiatives to enhance Thailand’s ability as a hub for health and wellness.

He made seven important policies known during the conference that were in line with global health trends and were intended to advance the health and wellness sector.

” These policies will help create 690 billion baht in economic value for Thailand in 2025, or around 3.39 % of the nation’s gross domestic product ( GDP )”, the minister said.

According to the agency’s continuous director, Dr Opas Kankawinpong, Thailand has shown remarkable achievements in wellness product development and service expansion, leading to the subsequent increase in investment by domestic and foreign investors.

The seven policies, according to him, aim to promote Thai traditional medicine, promote wellness hospitality, and advance the development of the Thai medical technology industry, to promote Thailand as a manufacturing hub.

Through data-driven evaluation, the health economy department’s recent establishment, allocate resources, and implement a sensible and sustainable public health system, all at once.

As part of the effort to upgrade the traditional medicine sector, Thai massage therapists are being trained to become specialists in seven syndromes, including muscle pain syndrome ( office syndrome ), frozen shoulder, trigger finger and paralysis.

More Thai ingredients have been added to the national drug record under the National Health Security Office, which is expected to generate more than 13.5 billion ringgit in quarterly profit, according to Dr. Opas.

In the realm of heath hospitality, “wellness roads” revealing spas and hot springs will be promoted. However, an “allocation” offer model– a combination of a resort stay, wellness treatments and traditional Thai medicine services– has also been developed and piloted in some destinations for as Phuket.

Now, the value of the country’s healthcare tourism is estimated at about 1.42 trillion ringgit, he said.

Dr. Opas stated that the government is also looking to promote private manufacturing of medical equipment and speed up the application of product registration and licensing.

By 2028, Thailand will also aim to be a hub for Advanced Therapy Medicine Products ( ATMPs ), according to Dr. Opas, whose global market value will likely reach 1.25 trillion baht by 2030.

The guidelines also focus on upgrading visual hospitals in Thailand to world-class requirements, offering training classes for aestheticians, and supporting companies in beauty product creation.

According to Dr. Opas, a system may be developed to make it easier for visitors looking for services like medical and behavioral therapy, surrogacy, sexual technology, and female confirmation surgery.

Minister Somsak expressed confidence that the laws may contribute to Thailand’s economic growth of 690 billion rmb, or 3.39 % of the GDP.

The amount is higher than the Office of the National Economic and Social Development Council’s forecast of 2.8 %, according to Mr. Somsak.

He claimed that the government would need to change a number of laws and regulations to promote the health and healthcare sector.
