SAMUT PRAKAN: Four Hong Kong nationals have been detained at the Suvarnabhumi aircraft in connection with 14 kilograms of cocaine, which they are alleged to have smuggled out of the country.
The four defendants were detained at the airport on Sunday night, according to Pol Lt Gen Panurat Lakboon, the Narcotics Control Board’s secretary-general, by authorities responding to a suggestion.  ,
Simply Leung Wai System and Chun He Chow, the two suspects, were named by him. Mr Leung is a presumed major drug kingpin, the director- general said.
According to Pol Lt. Gen. Panurat, Thai and Hong Kong drug enforcement discovered Mr. Leung and Mr. Chun’s arrival in Thailand on Friday, next year, to purchase medications.
Around 7 o’clock on Sunday, Mr. Leung and Mr. Chun entered the airport to pick up a briefcase from the two other defendants who were waiting there. They were all apprehended.
An assessment of the backpack found 40 bags of stored cocaine, weighing 14kg in overall.
Thailand continues to serve as a hub for international drug smugglers, according to Pol Lt Gen Panurat.  ,
