Singer Ammy wins appeal against lese majeste charge

Promsorn’s sentence was reduced by half.

The Court of Appeal reduced Promsorn Viradhammajari’s sentence to four years in prison and dismissed the der guess case brought against vocalist Chai-amorn Kaewwiboonpan. &nbsp,

The Thanyaburi Provincial Court read out the charm court’s decision on Tuesday.

It upheld Mr. Chai-amorn’s, better known as Ammy the Bottom Blues ,’s appeal against conviction and sentencing. The accused demanded the transfer of Thammasat University undergraduate Sirichai Nathuang from prison after he made a speech and track outside the municipal court in Pathum Thani state on January 14, 2021.

The Appeal Court dismissed the case, giving him the benefit of doubt because of the dubious evidence that was presented by the prosecution.

His political activist co-defendant Promsorn received an initial sentence of four years in prison. His actions were deemed a threat to the monarchy by the court at the time. Because he confessed before the court, the Appeal Court reduced the sentence by half.

The singer was given a 200-baht and 100-baht fine from Promsorn.

Four years ago, the two staged a rally outside the Thanyaburi court to demand the release of Sirichai, who was also detained on a charge of lese majeste.
