SINGAPORE: On Thursday, October 19, Singapore’s Zeng Jian won the WTT Feeder Doha II final against Anna Hursey of Wales to claim her first World Table Tennis ( WTT ) singles title.
At the Aspire Ladies Sports Hall in the capital of Qatar, Zeng, the 163rd-ranked opponent, defeated her opponent 3 – 0 ( 11 – 6 – 5 and 11 – 11 ).
The reigning SEA Games women’s singles champion began her campaign on Tuesday with a 3 – 0 victory over Choi Seoyeon of South Korea in the 32nd round.
The next day, in the round of 16, China’s Gao Yuxin was defeated after a fiercely contested 3 – 2 victory. Later that day, Zeng defeated Italy’s Giorgia Piccolin in the quarterfinals, recording another 3 – 0 victory.
She won the semifinal match against Huang Yi-hua of Chinese Taipei on Thursday night, securing her spot in the final.
WTT Feeder Doha II singles winners receive US$ 550( S$ 755 ) in prize money and accumulate 125 ranking points, according to the & nbsp website.
The WTT Feeder Series, which serves as a transitional year for the principal WRT Series and features rising celebrities, local and regional participants, as well as players who have dropped out due to injury, form, or career breaks.
The second WTT Feeder event took place in January, and this was the second one to be held in Doha this time.
