SINGAPORE: Singapore’s manufacturing output increased at a slower speed of 2 . two per cent year-on-year within June, dragged by decreases in semiconductor production and pharmaceutical output.
Excluding biomedical production, factory output within June grew 4. 2 per cent year-on-year, data from the Economic Development Board (EDB) showed on Wednesday (Jul 26).
June’s growth is definitely slower than the revised 10. 4 per cent year-on-year growth in May .
On a seasonally adjusted month-on-month time frame, manufacturing output fell 8. 5 per cent in June. Not including biomedical manufacturing, output declined 6. nine per cent.
CLUSTERS
Output in the transport engineering bunch grew the most within June, expanding thirty-two per cent year-on-year. The marine and just offshore engineering segment went up 44 per cent, supported by a higher level of work done in deliver repair and just offshore projects.
The aerospace section saw a growth associated with 32. 2 percent, on account of higher manufacturing of aircraft parts and more maintenance, restoration and overhaul work opportunities from commercial airlines with the easing of global air travel limitations, said EDB.

However , the healthcare technology segment grew 14. 3 %, with higher requirement for medical devices from the US plus China.
Output within the chemicals cluster reduced 11 per cent in June compared to the exact same period last year. The specialties segment increased 3. 9 per cent on account of higher production of food chemicals.
Output of the oil, petrochemicals and other chemicals segments declined second . 4 per cent, fifteen. 7 per cent and 27. 6 % respectively.
