Singapore’s minister for social and family development, Masagos Zulkifli, said on Saturday ( October 19 ) that community leaders should always be prepared for terrorist attacks, even during the peacetime.
At the International Conference on Communities of Success for international Muslim minority neighborhoods held in Singapore earlier this month, Mr. Masagos made reference to a police director from New Zealand who claimed the government “did no repent” being prepared despite the fact that attacks” if rarely happen.”  ,
The police officer added that bringing up numerous communities was what helped them survive the Christchurch dome shootings in 2019, according to Mr. Masagos.
More than 50 people were killed after a gunman opened fire at two mosque in March 2019, New Zealand’s worst peace mass shooting.
” We now are even more convinced that our community leaders should always prepare, ( be ) prepared to recover should an incident happen”, said Mr Masagos, who is also minister-in-charge of Muslim Affairs.
” But more important, often appeal to respect the ties that our communities have with one another, to cherish it and to strengthen it” . ,
The secretary was speaking to reporters in Tampines as part of a roundtable on society response to ensure that their ideas for crises are current and up-to-date.
A 17-year-old self-radicalized Singaporean was apprehended less than a month prior to his plan to attack a public accommodation place in Tampines, according to the news the day after it was revealed.
The children planned to kill non-Muslim men during the school holidays in September using either a kitchen knife or shears from his home. The youth lived close to the open area targeted for the assault.  ,
The children was detained following his arrest in August under the Internal Security Act.
