Singapore’s Chief Rabbi, Mufti reaffirm solidarity between communities amid ‘senseless’ Israel-Hamas war

Singapore’s Chief Rabbi and Mufti have written to each other to reiterate their support for the Arab and Jewish communities in the wake of the Israel-Hamas conflict. & nbsp,

Mufti Nazirudin Mohd Nasir wrote:” We read with deep sadness, worry, and grief, the escalation of conflict and violence affecting Jews and Muslims in Israel and Palestine ,” in a letter to Chief Rabbi Mordechai Abergel on Friday( Oct 13 ).

” We worry about and lament the loss of innocent life, young children, mothers, the elderly, and the helpless who are caught up in this fight.

” No one’s use of violence or cruelty against civilians, including those committed by Hamas or in punitive action, has any position or justification.” Civilians’ right to live in peace must always be safeguarded.

Nazirudin stated that both Jewish and Islamic scriptures emphasize the people have for mercy and compassion, despite the fact that the region’s issue has a long and complicated history. & nbsp,

He continued by saying that it is this quality that guarantees that every neighborhood has the fundamental freedom to live in peace and practice its values. & nbsp,

According to Nazirudin,” if these basic rights are in danger, it will almost undoubtedly result in animosity and conflict.”

And when civilization itself loses its figure of care, concern, and sympathy for the well-being of others, it becomes the greatest sufferer and reduction in wars and conflicts.
