The CDC ticket system was first introduced in June 2020 to assist hawkers and homeland merchants who are affected by the COVID-19 superbug and to enable lower-income families defray their cost of living.
Speaking at a launch function at , Marine Parade Town Centre , on Friday,  , Deputy Prime Minister Gan Kim Yong said that post-pandemic, inflation remained high due to a combination of factors.  ,
These included pent-up demand for solutions, political problems such as the conflict in Ukraine and supply chain disruptions.  ,
” We continued to use the CDC tickets program to assist Singaporeans mitigate the effects of rising prices,” said Mr. Gan, who is also the Minister for Trade and Industry.  ,
The program was expanded in 2021 to include all communities.  ,
Last year, families could say two tranches of tickets worthwhile S$ 800 in total. Up until December 31, these certificates were true.
Nearly all Taiwanese communities have claimed and spent their 2024 CDC tickets, said Mr Gan.
About 97 % of Singaporean households, including new households formed, claimed the vouchers last year, according to a media release released for the event.  ,
Of these, more than S$ 1 billion- or 97.5 per pence- were spent at
participating peddlers, homeland vendors and supermarkets.  ,
Since the electric CDC vouchers scheme’s start in December 2021, around S$ 1.6 billion has been spent overall. A full of S$ 907 million has been spent at participating peddlers and heartland stores, while S$ 689 million has been spent at participating stores.
When then-Deputy Prime Minister Lawrence Wong said Singaporeans may receive more payments to support with cost-of-living issues, the tickets that were released on Friday were announced at Budget 2024 as part of the S$ 1.9 billion in modifications to the , Assurance Package.  ,
He made the announcement that homeowners would receive S$ 600 CDC tickets, with the first quarter going out in June 2024 and the second quarter in January 2025.  ,
Some shops that took part last year also bundled their personal promotions for clients who used CDC coupons at their locations.  ,
Some homeland retailers and hawkers may offer extra discounts or gifts to clients who use CDC vouchers at their stores this year in honor of SG60, while some supermarkets will also have internal promotions.  ,
For assistance, people who have trouble claiming the tickets electronically may contact SG Digital Community Hubs or community centers.  ,
Youth and student participants from organizations like ITE College Central and Republic Polytechnic will work alongside CDC ministers at a few community centers or clubs during the first two days of the release.  ,
From January 3 to January 16, 2025, SG Digital Office’s Digital Ambassadors and Silver Infocomm Wellness Ambassadors may remain stationed at community centers or clubs to assist people.  ,
On Friday, the People’s Association ( PA ) and CDCs also reminded the public to stay vigilant of scams, adding that claiming the vouchers does not require any bank applications or transactions.
