Singaporean dies in crash

PHUKET: A 29-year-old Singaporean man on a motorbike was killed yesterday when he reportedly crashed into a truck in Kathu district.

The deceased rider’s name has been withheld pending notification of his relatives. His pillion rider, identified as Natalie Snghui Yi, 29, suffered internal bleeding as a result of the accident.

The crash occurred on a road in Kamala district at about 11.45am, according to Pol Lt Col Atcha Yatiwat.

The truck driver told police he was driving when he saw the motorcycle rider, travelling on the opposite side of the road, lose control on a curve before crashing into his vehicle.

Police are coordinating with the Singaporean embassy over the accident.
