According to Ms. Sun, the entry levy was established in 2008 as a sociable safeguard to deter relaxed and urge gambling among Singaporeans.
The charges had been increased on Apr 4, 2019, from S$ 100 routine and S$ 2, 000 yearly, for a period of five years. But, MHA overlooked the issuance of the 2019 purchase, and the taxes immediately reverted to the lower prices on Apr 4 this year.
MHA restored them to their higher levels on May 8, even though they were also collected between April 4 and May 7, with about S$ 4.4 million being collected above the authorized levels.
In response to a problem from Mr. Chua regarding the backdated of the policy, Ms. Sun responded that it was “always the intention to continue the higher charges until such time as we determine that there is a need to more change the rates.”
She continued, adding that continuing tolevate had helped solve problem betting,” I do not believe there were anticipation that the prices may return to the earlier lower rates after the five-year time.”
” That said, we are certainly treating this tragedy lightly. We have come to congress to validate the excessive choices made during this time, and we have been honest about acknowledging the problem.
