Singapore trials online application for conversion of Malaysian driving licence

SINGAPORE: The Traffic Police on Thursday (Jul 14) began a trial to allow slots of Malaysian generating licences to send their applications on the internet to convert their particular foreign licences to a Singapore licence.

The demo is aimed at reducing the waiting plus transaction times in the Traffic Police head office, the Singapore Police Force said in an online press release service.

Foreigners residing in Singapore for more than 12 months are required to transform their foreign driving licence to a Singapore driving licence to be able to drive in Singapore.

Under the trail, applicants are to submit their apps online . Once all of the documents are in purchase and the conversion eligibility criteria are fulfilled, applicants will be supplied with a date and time for you to visit the Traffic Law enforcement headquarters to complete the conversion process.

APPLICATION PROCESS

The Traffic Police said that after applicants submit their programs online, they will get an email asking for helping documents.

Candidates will then receive an answer on the outcome of their applications within ten working days, said the particular Traffic Police.

If everything is in order, applicants is going to be given an appointment date and time to bring their original paperwork to the Traffic Law enforcement headquarters for confirmation.

The  Visitors Police will then procedure the conversion app, and the applicant can receive a hardcopy Singapore driving licence inside 10 working days.

Applicants using a SingPass account can access the Electronic Driving Licence with the next working day, and may drive immediately without having to wait for the hardcopy traveling licence.
