Singapore scrambles fighter jets after bomb threat on Air India Express flight

SINGAPORE: The Republic of Singapore Air Force ( RSAF ) scrambled F-15SG jets on Tuesday night ( Oct 15 ) after a bomb threat on an Air India Express flight.

Defence Minister Ng Eng Hen stated in a Facebook post that the aircraft had learned that a bomb had been lodged on flight AXB684 headed for Singapore had been received.

Two F-15SG planes flew the aircraft apart from densely populated areas. More than an hour after it was scheduled to get, it touched down at Changi Airport at about 10.04 p.m.

” Our Floor Based Air Defense systems and the Explosive Ordnance Disposal staff were also activated. Once on the floor, the aircraft was handed to the Airport Police”, said Mr Ng, adding that investigations are ongoing.

” Many thanks to the hard work and expertise of our Singapore Armed Forces and Home Team, who keep us safe in our houses, even when risks are present around us,” the statement reads.
