Singapore recalls Gold Plum Vinegar due to undeclared allergen

SINGAPORE: After sulphur dioxide, an undisclosed ingredient, was discovered in the item, a recall has been issued for Gold Plum Vinegar. &nbsp,

The Singapore Food Agency ( SFA ) announced on Wednesday ( Sep. 18 ) that the recall applies to 550ml bottles of Chinese Gold Plum Vinegar with the best-before date of Jun 30th, 2027. &nbsp,

According to the report, having too much sulphur dioxide in food could cause allergic reactions in people who are allergic to sulphite.

Symptoms include bees, pain, heartburn, diarrhoea and vomiting.

Sulphite is frequently used as a food antioxidant and is generally screened for liquid substance sulphur carbon.

To protect buyers with food sensitivities, food items containing substances known to cause sensitivity may be listed on packaging labels in Singapore under the terms of the country’s food laws. &nbsp,

In descending order according to the measurements by fat in which they are present, all ingredients in prepacked foods should also be listed on the product brand.

Sulphite, according to SFA, does not pose a risk to consumers in general, aside from those who are intolerable or sensitive.

” Buyers who have purchased the affected item, and who are intolerant of or sensitive to sulphites, does not take them”, added the expert.

” Those who have consumed the alleged product and are intolerant of or sensitive to sulphites should seek medical attention if they have health problems.” Consumers may contact their point of purchase for enquiries” .&nbsp,

The buyer, Goy Chiap Hin, has been directed to recognize all implicated materials and the recall is continuous.
