According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs ( MFA ), Singapore passport holders will soon be able to travel to Timor-Leste without a visa starting on Thursday ( Jun 27 ).
The card cancellation agreement was signed by Singapore’s Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan and his Timorese rival, Bendito dos Santos Freitas, during the author’s beginning visit to Singapore.
Under present requirements, Singapore card holders need a visitor immigration for a brief- term visit to Timor- Leste.
With the common visa waiver for political, official, service, and common passports, Singapore passport holders may be exempted from visa requirements for a stay of up to 30 days in Timor- Leste, said MFA.
Timor-Leste card holders can continue to enjoy a 30-day visa-free remain in Singapore.
The agreement will strengthen Singapore and Timor-Leste’s people-to-people ties, according to MFA, and fulfill the requirements set forth in the roadmap for Timor-Leste’s membership in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations ( ASEAN ).
