A new flower combination was named after the first two Invincible-class submarines in honor of their commissioning, which was also held at Changi Naval Foundation.
In presence at the meeting were the princess sponsors of the Invincible-class submarines- Top Minister Lee Hsien Loong’s family Mdm Ho Ching, Dr Ng’s partner Dr Ivy Ng, and Mr Teo’s sister Ms Teo Swee Lian.
Following a long-standing marine history, vessels are” sponsored” by a female partner to offer great success over the vehicle and all who sail on table.
Speaking at the commission ceremony, Mr Wong said the boats are an integral part of the maritime power, adding that Singapore’s submarine excursion was” not without its issues”.
” When we started out, we faced a steep learning curve. We began slowly, procuring second-hand ships from Sweden, and learning the art from our Finnish buddies”, he added.
Over the years, Singapore’s go gained the experience and expertise to develop more powerful features, said Mr Wong, who is also Minister for Finance.
Now, the army has not only procured new-build boats, but even customised them to join Singapore’s special administrative needs.  ,
The Invincible-class boats are fitted with sophisticated technology, which allow for lighter personnel and better manoeuvrability in nearby crowded waters.  ,
” They are quieter, more durable and better armed than anything we’ve had before”, said Mr Wong.  ,
” The RS N’s submarine journey typifies the SAF and Singapore’s approach towards improving ourselves.  ,
” We invest with proper purpose. We do therefore rapidly, and over the long-term to improve our abilities, in our equipment and in our people. ”  ,
He added:” We work as a team, fitting fresh capabilities into the wider system, but that together, we can attain a favorable impact greater than the sum of our parts.”
Prime Minister Wong was briefed on the Impeccable submarine’s systems and capabilities on a Tuesday trip.
He also interacted with personnel from the two Invincible-class submarines, said MINDEF, adding that Mr Wong was hosted by Chief of Navy Rear Admiral Sean Wat.
