SINGAPORE: Singapore clinched the women’s table tennis team gold at the Commonwealth Games on Monday (Aug 1) after defeating Malaysia 3-0 in the final.
This is Singapore’s 1st gold medal from the 2022 Games and means the group recaptured the gold medal that evaded them in 2018 when they were beaten by India within the final.
Singapore beat Australia 3-0 in the semi-finals on Sunday, while Malaysia edged past Wales 3-2.
In the opening doubles, Zhou Jingyi and Zeng Jian dropped the first game, before storming back in convincing style to take the tie up 7-11, 11-4, 11-6, 11-5.
