Singapore authorities turn to AI in fight against new synthetic drugs

Creating ADVANCED TESTING

As the world drug condition becomes more complicated, medicine test kits are constantly being developed.

They are made to identify certain by-products that remain in a drug user’s body after taking illicit substances. &nbsp,

Now, the test packages in the market are considered superior and flexible. Only a small sample from an offender’s urine, saliva, or tresses is enough to get a result.

They can even find tampering by measuring acidity, warmth, and other characteristics of the test.

For example, urine tests are able to identify at least 200 distinct personal and courses of drugs.

But, these are still not enough, according to Alcotech, a supplier of drug testing products and services. &nbsp,

” Novel synthetic drugs are very, very fresh. But no test products have been produced to specifically identify those”, said Mr Ben Chan, a professional at Alcotech. &nbsp,

Existing test kits can be used to detect the abuse of book chemical drugs, leading to a negative outcome.

When a new chemical substance emerges, developing a exam set for it can take two years, said Mr Chan. &nbsp,

” Novel synthetic drugs are still being produced, and this will be a catch up”, he added. &nbsp,

There will never be a time when you can find things that have n’t been created or have just recently been created.

Synthetic drugs may cause heart problems and seizures when used in excess. Additionally, it may cause a fatally dangerous reaction. &nbsp,

Some middle houses, in addition, rely on past drug users to spot signs of substance abuse. &nbsp,

” People coming into the centre, you can see they are high, ( and ) you will know”, said Mr Samuel Wong, programme manager at HCSA Highpoint halfway house and a former drug abuser. &nbsp,

” You can actually assess a person ( to see if ) this guy’s eyes are very red, ( he ) walks with a stagger, slurs his speech and cannot put sentences together, ( his ) thoughts are a bit haywire, and ( he ) cannot sit down”.
