In 2022, a deal to hold the Singapore Formula 1 race for another seven times was signed. This marked , the contract’s third registration and its longest improvement.
However, in mild of , the charges then faced by previous Transport Minister S Iswaran, the authorities said in February 2024 that it was reviewing the terms of the night race offer.
The , Singapore Tourism Board (STB ) was also asked to conduct an audit of the 2022 Singapore Grand Prix.
Deputy Prime Minister Gan Kim Yong claimed that STB had completed the audit that covered the awarding of offers and procurement issues relating to F1 from 2019 to 2022 during a legislative session in November.
The assessment concluded that STB’s inner controls were acceptable, with no major findings. Mr. Gan added that the government and Singapore GP’s F1 agreements are still being reviewed.
Iswaran was sentenced to 12 months ‘ jail on Oct 3, 2024 for obtaining gifts worth about S$ 403, 300 , ( US$ 313, 200 )  , from , two businessmen he considered his friends  , and obstructing justice.  ,
One of those entrepreneurs was  , Ong Beng Seng, a , 78-year-old Malay property tycoon who is often , credited with bringing F1 to Singapore.
Iswaran was the president of Singapore’s F1 Steering Committee and dealt with Ong and his business.  ,
One of allegedly aiding Iswaran in getting an all-expenses-priced excursion to Doha for about S$ 20,850 in December 2022 is the one Ong eyes.
He is also accused of intentionally paying S$ 5,700 to Singapore GP for a company school flight ticket from Doha to Singapore over the same journey in May of 2023, when the Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau had been informed of the case.
The second pre-trial conference , for Ong was held last year.
