Shanti Pereira suffers injury setback ahead of Paris Olympics

SINGAPORE: Singapore jump wife Shanti Pereira has suffered an injury, many times before the Paris Olympics.  

Singapore Athletics ( SA ) published a statement on its website late on Monday ( Apr 15 ) that confirmed the “injury blow.”  

Before the 84th Singapore Open Track, Shivani has been sidelined with a knee injury. ” Field Championships as well as the Diamond League contest in Xiamen and Shanghai,” it said.  

Her manager Luis Cunha claimed that she had a” popular sport injuries” and that her training schedules may be modified as a precaution to concentrate on treatment.  

On April 18 to 19, Pereira and her coach were scheduled to travel to Singapore to engage in the Singapore Open Track and Field Championships. Pereira had been training at the National Training Center in Orlando in Florida, US, since the first week of February.

Pereira was originally intended to have its main office in Europe. This was to support her plan for the  Singapore Athletics stated in an Instagram post earlier in March that the Games in Paris would be held in August.

Singapore Athletics said that it will function with Pereira, her manager and the  To make sure she receives all the help she needs to get well, Singapore Sport Institute ( SSI) will.

In the forthcoming days, SA will also be working closely with Luis to reorganize her training plans for Paris 2024, according to the organization.

” In the meantime, she may train and experience treatment in Singapore,” her trainer added.  

The sports competitions for the Paris Olympics are scheduled for July 26 through August 11; Aug 2 to Aug 11 in and around the Stade de France.

Pereira has already met the 200m qualification level for the Games  following her August 2023 move at the National Athletics Centre in Budapest, Hungary.  

During her stay in Florida, Pereira even competed in a 400m competition at the University of Florida. She finished fifth  but broke the 400m regional record.
