Severe myopia cases among children in Singapore almost doubled in past decade

He pointed out that there have recently been some new and powerful ways to manage blindness in the market.

These range from eye drops that stop myopia from progressing in children to specially designed eyeglasses and contact lens.

Additionally, Singapore and the area have developed tools to help determine which kid is most likely to develop blindness in the near future, including artificial intelligence. These are currently being used in blindness testing programs.

The most recent product on the market, according to Ms. Dorothy Chan, a top optometrist at Spectacle Hut, has been shown to slow down blindness by 67 percent when worn by a kid for at least 12 hours per day.

She continued,” You see your blindness growth have been greatly reduced since we started offering this as a choice two years ago. Some of them may not even have an annual raise.

Every six months, parents should examine their children’s vision to determine whether their education is firm, according to Ms. Chan, and they should do so as soon as possible.

His parents said they might consider other forms of treatment, like astigmatism control contact lens, in the future.

&nbsp,” He actually thought he was growing up, like becoming a big boy wearing glasses, because his brother ( wears them ), but we told him … it’s not a good thing for him to be wearing glasses”, Mr Gan quipped.

” Maybe, he forgets that he needs to wear glasses. Without them, he wanders about. But we can see there is a big improvement – he does n’t really squint his eyes, that’s the most obvious thing”.
