Seven tourists in Fiji hospital with suspected alcohol poisoning

Seven travellers from Fiji have been taken to the hospital with a rumored case of alcohol poisoning, and they are in a critical issue.

According to legend, they allegedly drank cocktails at a beach bar on a Saturday night native time and soon afterwards developed dizziness, vomiting, and neurological symptoms.

Four of the seven are American, with age ranging from 18 to 56, according to local media accounts citing the health department.

The incident comes weeks after the deaths of six tourists in the South East Asian nation of Laos because of suspected methanol poisoning.

The travellers in Fiji were first taken to Sigatoka Hospital, where they were reportedly staying at a hotel on the Coral Coast.

They were all afterward transferred to Lautoka Hospital, according to the Fiji Times.

A spokesperson for the American foreign ministry told the BBC that two American families in Fiji are receiving diplomatic assistance.
