Senate to hear testimonies on ‘social media fraud’

Boon Vanasin, the founder of Thonburi Healthcare Group, is alleged to be hiding out in China, and a Senate hearing next week will include testimony from related organizations.

Senate committee on information and communication technologies deputy president, Senator Premsak Piayura, announced on Tuesday that the council would hold a period on December 2 to look into cases involving phony purchases made through social press.

In this case, Dr Boon, along with his alleged partners, faces claims of fraud and money laundering. Around 7.5 billion ringgit is thought to have been the result of their loss.

Minister Prasert Jantararuangtong of the Digital Economy and Society, as well as representatives from the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission ( NBTC ), the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission ( NBTC ), the Royal Thai Police (RTP), the Department of Special Investigation ( DSI), and the Securities and Exchange Commission ( SEC ).

These organizations may be asked to report on how well the applicable laws are enforced, as well as which parties are accountable for damages. Many people are alleged to have been defrauded into making investments in deceptive schemes, and there are rumors that stockbrokers perhaps even keep some responsibility.

Sen Premsak stated that the committee will examine how various government agencies use legitimate measures.

” Why do such]fraud ] issues keep occurring? He continued, referring to the well-known instances of alleged people fraud, including those involving Stark Corporation and The image Group.

He demanded that Dr. Boon stand down and fight for himself in jury.

However, Santi Pracha Dhamma Club president Tankhun Jitt-itsara claimed he has reason to believe Dr. Boon is in China and is preparing to escape to one of the numerous European nations with close relationships.

He claimed that he hoped Interpol and Taiwanese officials may work together to arrest him.

He even noted that the victims appear to be increasing everyday and that the majority are senior citizens.

In some cases, damage exceed billion of baht. Additionally, some of the patients have suffered from illness as a result of their stress.

” After Dec 12, some more cases are expected to be filed with the specialists”, Sen Premsak said.
