Senate okays new attorney-general

Amnat Jedcharoenruk’s development to attorney general was approved by the Senate yesterday.

Amnat received 193 vote in his favor.

With seven nays, Mr. Amnat received 193 vote in his favor and one against.

The election of Mr. Amnat as the nation’s 18th attorney general was overwhelmingly approved by the Public Prosecution Commission in March.

The nation’s first female attorney general, Naree Tantasathien, who retires at the end of this month, may be succeeded by him.
