Senate approves Naree’s nomination as attorney-general

The United states senate on Monday authorized the nomination associated with Naree Tantasathien, director-general of the Department of Legal Counsel, as the nation’s 17th attorney-general plus first woman to hold the position.

Of the 212 senators who attended the meeting, 205 voted in support of the nomination with seven abstentions.

The secretariat of the Senate will forward her name in order to His Majesty the particular King for a regal command appointing  the girl attorney-general.

When confirmed, she will be the country’s 17th attorney-general and initial woman to hold the position.

She could replace Singchai Thaninson, who turns sixty-five in fiscal 2022 and will retire.

Ms Naree, 63, graduated in law from Chulalongkorn University and is the Thai barrister-at-Law. She also earned the master’s degree within comparative law from Howard University, USA, a master’s diploma in international regulation from The American University, Washington DC, USA, and a master’s education in international felony cooperation from Vrije University of Brussels, Belgium.

Ms Naree began work in 1985. She gets served in the Department of Thonburi Criminal Litigation, the Office from the Attorney-General and the Section of Legal Counsel.

The many essential cases and projects she has handled are the Saudi jewellery theft, the murder associated with Saudi diplomats, power contracts, contracts meant for commercial development, shared investment contracts plus Covid-19 vaccination procurement contracts.
