SINGAPORE: A former security officer who left his guard post for hours, then forgot to dispose of a dummy bomb to be used in a security exercise, was fined S$ 1, 800 ( US$ 1, 333 ) on Tuesday ( Dec 17 ). &nbsp,

Officials from the Singapore Police Force and the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) were called in to the complex at Ang Mo Kio Industrial Park 2 after the false explosive was discovered. &nbsp,

Prior to this, Durendran Vicknesh Venkatraman, 46, admitted to defrauding his firm by entering his duty logbook falsely and being absent from his deployed location without giving a legitimate reason.

He was given account for lying to a policeman officer’s punishment. &nbsp,

He was released on bond and given an conviction on the charge of causing alarm for the public by failing to dispose of the fake bomb. &nbsp,

Sentencing Durendran, District Judge Ow Yong Tuck Leong noted that Durendran had been absent from work for five-and-a-half days, had not been able to respond to any crisis, and that he had been the only person on duty. &nbsp,

The prosecutor argued that there was no justifiable justification for his actions. &nbsp,

LEFT WORK TO DRINK WITH FRIENDS

Durendran had been employed part-time at One Imperial Security and had been a registered security officer for 13 times.

Durendran was dispatched to Sing Industrial Complex, which is located at Ang Mo Kio Industrial Park 2, on the night of January 4. His&nbsp, change was from 8pm to 8am the next day. &nbsp,

Nevertheless, at around 11.20pm, he left his post to match and drink with friends at Oxley Tower in Tanjong Pagar. He kept his exit secret from everyone. &nbsp,

Prior to this, One Imperial’s director asked two independent contractors to do a red-teaming workout with the protection officer on duty.

Red-teaming exercises were used to evaluate the viability of safety measures during a real-world strike.

The two protection experts arrived at the advanced on January 5 at around 4.25 am, but Durendran was not present and the main doorway was unlocked.

They called Durendran, who lied that he was outside buying foods. &nbsp,

A consultant placed a fake Alert ( improvised explosive device ) in a brown paper bag next to the gate in the scooter parking lot.

They left when Durendran forgot to take the false weapon out when they didn’t arrive by 5am. The consultants afterwards informed One Imperial’s director that the exercise was postponed because the security guard was away. &nbsp,

Durendran returned at about 5.04am. The experts called Durendran to give him instructions on how to rid of the fake bomb.

Durendran promised to do it but slipped it away. Even though this was false, he later stated in the watch work notebook that he had been patrolling or on responsibility inside the guardhouse for his whole shift.

The following safety protect who took over the change spotted the false weapon and called the police. Finally, several officers and SCDF officials were dispatched. &nbsp,

More than 100 people were stopped from entering the complicated or evacuated during explosive risk studies, which spanned about 90 days. &nbsp,

The prosecutors requested a good and at least three weeks in jail. &nbsp,

Given their part in defending people and property from risks, Deputy Public Prosecutor Dan Pan claimed the conduct of private surveillance officers was of” substantial public importance.” &nbsp,

Mr. Pan alleged that Durendran had “brazenly absented” himself for about six days for the “frivolous purpose of going eating with his companions.” &nbsp,

The area that Durendran went to, in city, was more than 7km ahead, Mr Pan added. &nbsp,

” As a consequence of the accused’s presence, the dark pairing training could not be conducted, and this ultimately resulted in the false weapon being left at the advanced.

The accused was also largely responsible for the failure to reduce the false bomb because he had been particularly informed to dispose of it and had acknowledged the request, but unintentionally failed to dispose of the false bomb, said Mr. Pan. &nbsp,

A safety officer who leaves the deployment site without providing a legitimate excuse can be imprisoned for up to three months, fined up to S$ 2, 000, or both.

Up to 10 years in prison, a good, or both are possible penalties for concealing records with the intention to mislead an company.
