A security guard in Singapore admitted to leaving his guard post in a warehouse park for more than five hours on Thursday ( Dec. 12 ) and forgetting to dispose of a dummy bomb during a red team exercise.
When a security guard reported a bomb risk on the following change, the Singapore Police Force and Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) immediately deployed officials.
Durendran Vicknesh Venkatraman, 49, admitted to defrauding his firm by entering false information into the work notebook and being absent from his deployed site without giving a legitimate reason.

Around 5.05 a.m., Durendran went back to the gate and observed no one. He left a missed contact with the protection specialists, using the amount they had dialled him with earlier.
After recalling the fake bomb, they answered his call at around 5o’clock in the morning.
They repeatedly told Durendran to dispose of the report case containing a fake bomb from the red-teaming and consistently informed him of it. The safety watch indicated that he would follow through.
The attorney claimed that he did not realize this and did not rid of the false explosive despite walking past it several times throughout the rest of his move.
Durendran also failed to inform the protection officer who would follow him when he handed in his transition at 8am.
Even though this was false, Durendran claimed in the guard duty notebook that he had been patrolling or on work inside the gate for the entire transition before ending his move.
Disaster RESPONSE
When the next security guard arrived, he noticed the bogus weapon in the scooter parking lot. He called the police reporting a suspected IED after taking it and placing it next to the entrance.
