Search continues for missing Belgian man

CHIANG MAI: The search for a Belgian man who have fell from an inflatable raft in to the Taeng River throughout heavy rain ongoing yesterday.

Chainarong Nantasai, chief of Mae Taeng district, coordinated the search effort, concerning volunteers and scuba divers, at the site within tambon Kuedchang as they looked for the man identified as Nicolas Hinckxt, 30.

Mr Hinckxt and his friends boarded a Siam River Escapades inflatable boat, managed by Panya Noibutr, 30, to go rafting along the river on Friday.

According to a preliminary query, Mr Hinckxt fell from the boat after it struck a huge rock near Mueng Keud village around 2pm.

He was suspended and still wearing their vest but could hardly get back on the boat, this said.

A rope has been thrown into the lake but Mr Hinckxt could not grab your hands on it and has been quickly swept aside in the strong present.
