Sattahip district chief transferred after pub inferno

CHON BURI: The Sattahip area chief was quickly transferred in the wake up of the Mountain W pub fire that will killed 13 individuals and injured 36 others early Friday morning.

The Department associated with Provincial Administration upon Friday ordered the transfer of Sattahip district chief Chartchai Sripho-on to the division head office, Chon Buri deputy governor Naris Niramaiwong said.

He gave no further information, but the announcement followed statements by the indoor minister and provincial police chief that the  pub was unlicensed and operating illegally in an region not zoned just for entertainment.

The deputy chief excutive led officials to inspect the scene from the blaze at the Mountain B pub upon Sukhumvit Road together Bang Na-Trat route in tambon Phu La Tuang of Sattahip district.

Mr Naris ordered officials at the fire-gutted pub to remain vigilant for achievable dangers that may occur, but did not explain. The inferno triggered a huge loss, he said.

Thirteen people were slain and 36 other people injured in the fireplace that will started about 1am in the crowded Mountain B pub.

Footage showed people fleeing with regard to safety, screaming as flames and smoke cigarettes billowed from the constructing. Some were seen running with their systems engulfed in fire flames.

Leading Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha said on Friday he had ordered officials to check the safety standards of cafes nationwide and prevent such a tragedy happening once again.  

“Today I purchased all organisations worried to find those responsible and help the affected people as quickly as possible, ” the prime minister said.

“We must be a lot more careful on such issues, especially company operators and authorities, because the pictures is going to be forwarded internationally and greatly damage self-confidence. ”
