Sarawak to woo tourists from Singapore

KUCHING: Sarawak is set in order to capitalise on the resurgence of international visit draw more vacationers from Singapore to go to the state.

The Sarawak Tourism Panel (STB) is taking part in the National Association of Travel Agents Singapore (Natas) fair from Friday (Aug 12) to Weekend (Aug 14) to advertise Sarawak’s tourism products to Singaporean stakeholders.

STB mouthpiece chief executive for marketing communications Suriya Charles Buas said this was the perfect opportunity for Sarawak and Singapore tourism stakeholders to come together in fresh efforts to improve Sarawak as a preferred tourism destination.

“With food getting one of the pillars of Sarawak tourism plus Kuching being the first city in Malaysia to be named a creative city of gastronomy by Unesco, we intend to have a campaign in partnership with Singaporean tourism stakeholders targeted at Singaporean foodies to enjoy Sarawak’s gastronomy, ” he said in a statement on Friday.

Suriya said STB would certainly engage with about twenty Natas members in a business networking session to share ideas upon current tourism styles in Sarawak and Singapore.

They will also discuss just how STB can help Singapore tourism players build awareness about Sarawak’s products and destinations.

“We will also discuss with a group of Singaporean key opinion leaders to establish a collaborative connection with them and raise awareness and curiosity among the Singaporean open public through their postings about Sarawak, ” he added.
