Sarawak looking to innovate its way to being a developed state by 2030

KUCHING: Sarawak will be emphasising innovation and talent development because it moves towards being a developed state by 2030.

Condition Education, Innovation and Talent Development Ressortchef (umgangssprachlich) Datuk Roland Sagah said innovation had been an important element in driving the socio-economic progress communities and countries.

“Innovation is not really restricted to physical products or machines, it also takes place to improve procedures and services which could give us the competitive edge.

“Hence we need to determine how we can create a setting which fosters research and innovation, ” he said whenever opening a science, technology and creativity seminar here on Thursday (Aug 11).

Sagah mentioned the seminar had been timely as the science, technology and development sector was nevertheless in its infancy in Sarawak.

He or she welcomed assistance from Federal agencies such as the Science, Technology and Development Ministry, Academy of Sciences Malaysia, Yayasan Inovasi Malaysia and Sirim Bhd, using their experience in traveling technological and interpersonal innovation.

“They will share with us current guiding procedures at the federal level as well as funds, services and services accessible, ” he stated.

The workshop will discuss guidelines, facilities and the method forward for Sarawak in science, technologies and innovation.

It will also come up with a preliminary framework for marketing innovation in Sarawak.
