Samui court jails for life son of Spanish actor Rodolfo Sancho over grisly murder

KOH SAMUI: Rodolfo Sancho’s son, the son of the common tourist island of Koh Phangan, was sentenced to life in prison on Thursday for the high-profile death and dismemberment of a Colombian man last year.

The jury found Daniel Sancho Bronchalo, 30, innocent of the planned murder of Edwin Arrieta Arteaga, 44, whose brain was cut up and concealed by the accused, a judge statement said.

Daniel Sancho is the son of Rodolfo Sancho, who starred in” El Ministerio del Tiempo” ( The Ministry of Time ) and actress Silvia Bronchalo. He pleaded guilty to concealing the victim’s system, but denied premeditated murder, the prosecutor said.

Throughout the prosecution, Sancho had maintained the August 2023 dying of Arteaga, a plastic surgeon, was an act of self-defence, according to Indian media reports. When Reuters contacted him on Thursday, his attorney declined to comment.

Sancho was a restaurant on vacation in Thailand at the time of the incident, according to local advertising.

He scattered plastic bags around the area with the fragments of the victim’s figure before dismembering it completely.

Due to the consideration he gave during cross examination, the court originally sentenced him to death, but later reduced that to life in prison. He was ordered to pay the defendant’s home 4.42 million ringgit in compensation.
