Samsung says ‘no disruption’ to production despite strike

Despite a three-day general strike by thousands of workers, South Korean tech giant Samsung asserted on Tuesday ( Jul 9 ) that production was not being halted.

More than 5, 000 members of the National Samsung Electronics Union stopped working Monday, the company said, as part of a long-running fight over pay and benefits.

The federation has more than 30, 000 users- more than a five of the company’s overall workforce.

” There has been no disturbance to manufacturing”, local media quoted Samsung as saying.

Park Seol, a freshman member of the union, told AFP Tuesday that output was being affected.

The company should understand that we are n’t just trying to affect their production line; we want them to hear our voice and understand how desperate we are, she said.
