Salesman jailed for assaulting couple at Punggol mall after they took photo of him

Goh Wei Yew and a couple who were working as salespeople at Waterway Point got into a fight because they thought he was being disrespectful.

Afterward, he physically attacked them by punching and slamming the 60-year-old woman’s mind into a wall outside another store.

The 41-year-old Singaporean admitted to two counts of voluntarily causing harm on Wednesday ( Mar 13 ) and received a seven-week jail term.

When the couple approached him about Xiaomi tv, the jury heard that he was employed at the Punggol store on August 21, 2023.

Because the pair thought he had been disrespectful to them, their talk turned into a verbal argument. Before the few left the store, the 66-year-old adult victim then used his mobile phone to snap a picture of Goh.

At the gate to the Home Affairs store, he approached the adult victim and asked why she had been staring at him from the elevator. She instructed him to avoid approaching her.

Enraged by this, he grabbed her nose and slammed it on a roof at the store’s entrance. The back of her head was next punched, causing her to fall to the surface.

The adult victim heard her yelling from close proximity. Goh slammed the older man’s head against the wall and forced him to the earth as he approached the store.

The adult victim rose up and attempted a second attack, but Goh grabbed her once more, shoved her to the floor, and kicked her head. Fearing for her partner’s health because he had a history of stroke, he attempted to stop him. He slammed her against a case when she attempted to walk up.

When two bystanders intervened by escorting Goh out of the store and holding him back, the assault just came to an end.

Both patients experienced bruising and several abrasions as injuries.

According to Goh, the state prosecutor Ng Chee Wee demanded eight to twelve weeks in jail and physically assaulted the elder.
