Sacked SingPost executives say their firing is ‘without merits’

“FAILED TO PERFORM THEIR DUTIES”

SingPost had said in a Singapore Exchange processing on Sunday that it commenced investigations&nbsp, after the whistleblowers report&nbsp, about the group’s non-regulated global e-commerce shipping piece enterprise was filed earlier this year.

According to the report, SingPost’s global enterprise product allegedly manually entered a number of delivery status codes. These were for global shipping packages that the business had agreed to deliver through a deal with one of its biggest customers.

According to the allegations, the regular entries were made without any justification or supporting documentation in an effort to avoid legal repercussions under the agreement. &nbsp,

Following an investigation, administrative proceedings were brought against three administrators – Mr Phang, Mr Yik and Mr Li Yu, chief executive of SingPost’s global enterprise unit– who were immediately involved in the matter. It was found that they had committed serious breaches of the company’s code of conduct, SingPost said.

Even though no delivery attempt had been made and without supporting documentation, the senior executives discovered to have created or approved manual “delivery failure” status codes for parcels.

According to SingPost, a whistleblowing report on the same subject was also sent to Singapore’s Infocomm Media Development Authority. &nbsp,

SingPost claimed that the three senior executives ‘ handling of internal investigations into the whistleblowing reports and the renewal of the related agreement was found to be “grossly negligent” in their conduct. &nbsp,

Additionally, they “omitted to take into account material facts that hampered their decision-making and/or lacked responsibility and reliability.”

SingPost reported that it was discovered that Mr. Phang, Mr. Yik, and Mr. Li had “accorded undue weight” to the falsehoods made by representatives of the international business unit’s operations team.

They did so without any independent substantiation or evidence, and had, in turn, made various serious misrepresentations to the audit committee, said SingPost. &nbsp,

SingPost reported that the board of directors ‘ confidence in the three senior executives ‘ judgment and ability to carry out their responsibilities in the interests of the company has become less and less serious as a result of these errors and discoveries.

The investigation into Mr. Phang, Mr. Yik, and Mr. Li came to an end on Friday. According to SingPost, their employment was immediately terminated on Saturday, and a police report was also filed against them.
