S$135 million to upgrade 32 private estates under Estate Upgrading Programme: Desmond Lee

NEW EUP FOR SILVER ESTATES&nbsp,

MND argued that having senior-friendly and available network in their estates is essential for “enabling our elders to live more easily and age-in-place” as Singapore’s old population grows. &nbsp,

As part of the Age Also SG program, MND will create a fresh EUP for silver estates. &nbsp,

Lands that have a higher concentration of elders and have benefited from EUP for some time may be chosen for senior-friendly improvements, according to MND. &nbsp,

The first batch of silver estates ‘ new EUP will include seven lands, and over 3,700 families stand to gain. &nbsp,

The range of upgrades under the EUP for ordinary holdings will also be expanded to include senior-friendly improvements.

In his speech, Mr. Lee claimed that such improvements include wheelchair-friendly stairs, clearer signage that makes it easier for people to navigate, and yet therapeutic gardens for elders to mingle.

” We can even consider putting in place equipment, such as buildings and health walls, where we can organise schemes for effective ageing&nbsp, in the private lands”, he said. &nbsp,

The gold lands that stand to benefit are: &nbsp,

  1. Fengshan
  2. Hillview
  3. Hong Leong Gardens &amp, Pasir Panjang
  4. MacPherson Gardens
  5. Mayfair Park
  6. Teachers ‘ Cover
  7. Thomson &amp, Yew Lian Park

As part of the EUP approach, comments and suggestions will be sought from people, and their views may be incorporated in the changing decisions, said MND. &nbsp,

Residents are urged to take active part in these conversations to ensure that the changing works are done in accordance with their needs, according to the ministry.

This would also give the neighborhood a sense of ownership for the typical locations in their estates.
