Russian graffiti painters arrested in Phuket

In Patong Beach Town, two Russian gentlemen have been detained for spray painting restaurant signs and graffiti on a road.

Their imprisonment was announced by Pol Maj Gen Saranyu Chamnarnrat, assistant chief of the Provincial Police Region 8, on Tuesday.

The trio- Evgenii Egorov, 23, and Oleg Shirshov, 22- were taken into custody from a hostel on Thaweewong street in tambon Patong of Kathu city about 4pm on Monday. &nbsp,

He claimed that the neighborhood officers learned about the spray-painting of the HRDSHT on a road slope, which had been blocked for driving, at 9 p.m. on March 23. It was not known what the papers symbolised. ( continues below )

The two people are accused of spray-painting a cafe mark the exact day near the Government Savings Bank’s Patong tree on Phra Baramee Road in tambon Patong.

A picture of the graffiti artists at work was posted online, drawing severe social media condemnation. The two&nbsp, squirt- paintings were seen leaving on a bike.

Police located the graffiti artists after they left their bicycle parked in front of a hostel on Thaweewong Road, where they were later detained.

During doubting, the two gentlemen allegedly admitted to the claims, saying they had been drinking, were intoxicated and had acted impulsively. They rebuffed their activities and insisted there was no other purpose. &nbsp,

Pol Maj Gen Saranyu said Mr Egorov had driven the bike, which was rented, and his companion Mr Shirshov rode rider. Mr. Egorov claimed to have acted only when he painted the restaurant sign and road. His companion was there, but did not take part in it.

They were both charged with colluding with theft, and they were turned over to the Patong police place for legal actions.

On Tuesday evening, the trio was scheduled to appear in Phuket Provincial Court.
