Russian delegation visits Pyongyang to discuss cooperation against spying, KCNA says

A delegation from Russia’s External Intelligence Bureau made a trip to the North Korean capital of Pyongyang on Monday ( Mar 25 ) and Wednesday to discuss boosting cooperation against spying, according to state media KCNA on Thursday.

According to KCNA, the department’s director, Sergei E. Naryshkin, and the North Korean minister of state safety, Ri Chang Dae, gave each other updates on the state of the international and regional condition involving Russia and the Korean Peninsula.

Representatives from the intelligence commission and the ministry likewise held working-level discussions during the visit, according to KCNA.

According to the state news agency, the two parties even discussed expanding participation in response to the “ever-increasing eavesdropping and plotting moves by the angry forces.”

Truong Thi Mai, a permanent part of the main committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, and Kim Song Nam, the head of a North Korean group traveling to Vietnam, met on Tuesday in Hanoi with Kim Song Nam, the head of the global department at the ruling Workers ‘ Party of Korea.

According to KCNA, the two discussed enhancing teamwork and improving relationships.

Following COVID- 19 lockdowns, Pyongyang is attempting to grow its political ties with the US.
