The Royal Thai Army (RTA ) held a quarterly briefing with 25 foreign military attachés in Thailand recently, aiming to enhance mutual understanding with international partners.
Lt Gen Kamchai Wongsri, director-general of the Army Intelligence Department, said next Thursday’s meeting was to receive an update on the army’s activities and eagerness to address security threats and help with disaster relief.
He said the presentation covered the military’s disaster relief activities, cross-border anti-narcotics work, and insight from an RTA white papers.
The military envoys were also interested in learning lessons from world conflicts like the Ukraine-Russian and Israel-Hamas war, he said.
With regard to operational capabilities, he said the army has adopted the DOTMLPF ( doctrine, organisation, training, matériel, leadership and education, personnel, and facilities ) Plus framework.
This focuses on education, education, research and development, development of the local defence industry and integration of the human sector into defence planning.
Lt. Gen. Kamchai also emphasized the army’s close cooperation with neighboring countries to fight drug smuggling along the border and the implementation of a complete protection, destruction, and rehabilitation plan to address the issue.
In terms of hazard reduction initiatives, he claimed the Tham Luang cave save was an effective illustration of Thai and more than 22 other countries cooperating internationally.
The troops, he said, had even contributed to disaster relief work in Chiang Rai, Chiang Mai and the southern area.
Lt. Gen. Kamchai claimed that the presentation had a significant impact on encouraging military cohesion, which may improve regional stability.
