Thais who have learned His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great’s Adequacy Economy Philosophy (SEP) are ready to put it directly into action as the entire world increasingly movements toward sustainable development, said Sumet Tantivejkul, Secretary-General of the Chaipattana Foundation.

Dr Sumet made his remarks yesterday at the opening ceremony of Sustainability Expo 2022 (SX 2022) at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center.

This particular year’s event is much bigger than the first three years ago, Dr Sumet said, while adding how increasingly essential the sustainable growth issue is among the worldwide community.

The world has experienced shortages of natural resources for a long time due because of an increasing people, he said, whilst further pointing out that the global human population is expected to boost by 9 billion within 30 years.

He mentioned His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej the fantastic had earlier understood the problem and spent much of his living working to maintain a balance between soil, water, wind and open fire — the basic components for all living things.

“His Sufficiency Economy Philosophy [SEP] is not really a way for just expanding vegetables at home; it goes beyond that, ” he mentioned.

“It is the principle that will suggests people conduct a self-assessment prior to doing business, that they have a reasonable reason for what they are carrying out while including risk management measures. ”

The SEP’s key message was clearly explained simply by His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great’s 13 outlines that warned individuals to understand globalisation, prepare for any changes and to be cautious of unexpected changes that can impact all dimensions, this individual said.

“The majority of people are now learning more about sustainable development goals. And now, it is time to force them into action, ” he said.

“This is not only a job for Thai people, but the whole world to create balance, security and sustainability for a better globe. ”

Thapana Sirivadhanabhakdi, president and CEO of Thai Beverage Plc  (ThaiBev), who is furthermore the chairman from the Sustainability Expo 2022 committee, said the world faces several problems.

“Beyond climate change, which has now been well recognised as a crystal clear threat to all of us, food and water safety, as well as biodiversity wreckage, are at the top of the environmental agenda, ” Mr Thapana said.

To cope with such existential issues, there needs to be worldwide collaboration and innovation which is impactful — this he mentioned is the expo’s major objective.

Beyond actions, Mr Thapana said he believed that the correct mindset is crucial to guarantee the success of lasting development in the long term.

“We strongly believe that the Adequacy Economy Philosophy presented on us from the late King Rama IX — which emphasises moderation, reasonableness, and self-immunity, based on the two foundations of knowledge and virtue — can be our leading light, ” he or she said.

The SX 2022 is being held till Sunday. More than 100 leading Thai plus overseas organisations are taking part in the event, and over 150 company leaders and professionals will be event speakers.
