Roof collapses at Delhi airport, one dead, flights cancelled

One person was killed and the flights from a domestic terminal were canceled after a roof collapsed on Friday ( Jun 28 ) in India’s capital New Delhi, according to officials.

India’s aviation minister reported to reporters that a portion of the canopy at the Delhi airport’s Terminal 1 departure area collapsed early in the morning, which extended flight operations until 2 p.m. ( 0830 GMT ).

The whole terminal, one of three at the country’s busiest aircraft, has been evacuated and an examination ordered into the collapse, said the minister, Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu.

At least 10 flights were cancelled and 40 were delayed, according to statistics from flight tracking software Flightradar24.
