River Valley fire: SCDF recognises 18 members of the public who responded to blaze

Mr. Lo recalls seeing four instructors inside the storehouse escorting kids onto the ledge to get them out of the flame.

He said,” They only put their own safety before the children’s safety,” calling them “responsible.”

The group firefighters yelled at the children on the balcony as they” shivered” and “wanted to jump” off, according to Mr. Lo.

According to construction worker Shakil Mohammad, Mr. Lo was a “gentleman” who held the scaffold steady with one hand while guiding the children to health with his other.

As the children tried to stay protected from the hearth, Mr. Shakil, 35, was one of the people who assisted in carrying them down from the ledge.

He immediately attempted to climb up to the third floor of the building, but he was unable to pass the second-floor fire, so he went outside to help.
