Revised salary scheme for civil servants in Malaysia to be ‘best’ ever, says PM Anwar

Mr. Anwar, who is also Malaysia’s finance secretary, stated at the town house that he wanted the best control in the public company to ensure that all civil workers benefited from the program.

” In a meeting with the chief secretary to the government, director- general of public service and treasury secretary- general, I said ( that ) I do n’t want one department, one group that feels they are left behind. We want to conduct a thorough analysis of this pay structure, and I want to see it combined with civil service reform, he said.

Mr. Anwar stressed the caliber of civil servants ‘ performance, noting that those who are lazy or underperforming should not be given identification or advancement.

” If we want to raise the respect of our land, if we want to be more efficient, if we want to benefit people in terms of their effectiveness, we should not give acknowledgement simply based on their age or size of their service”, he said.

NEED FOR MORE MARVEL Officials IN CIVIL SERVICE

At the same city hall, Mr. Anwar also reaffirmed the need to assign more people as civil servants, noting that the current ratio of women leaders does not reflect the 42 % female participation rate in public service decision-making.

” There is certainly not enough ( women leaders ). I’ve talked seriously about how to increase the number of women in positions ( such as directors-general of departments and secretaries-general ), according to Mr. Anwar, with the government’s chief secretary Mohd Zuki Ali.

In response to a question from a Public Service Officer in the nation about his strategy for addressing shortcomings in the administrative group, Mr. Anwar said there was also room for improvement in management among them.

” First… it may take time to improve management, because there’s some faults in management from top to bottom. We need to drive ahead”, he said.
