SINGAPORE: Regular train service between Tanah Merah and Tampines MRT stations along the East-West Line ( EWL ) will resume , on Tuesday ( Dec 10 ), a day ahead of schedule after the completion of track works.
Since Saturday, the stretch of stations has been closed to allow for the connection of tracks between the new East Coast Integrated Depot  (ECID ) and the EWL.
In a Facebook post on Monday,  , Transport Minister , Chee Hong Tat said function and , “rigorous checking” have been completed.  ,
Our professionals, specialists, and employees who were laying the lines around the clock and conducting thorough planning and testing,” I would like to thank our public transportation workers and workers for their hard work over the past three days,” Mr. Chee said.
The Land Transport Authority ( LTA ) added:” We’ve completed comprehensive testing, including safety and ultrasonic tests on the tracks, power supply and train signalling systems”.
LTA had previously stated that the service disruptions between Tanah Merah and Tampines were essential because the EWL lines ‘ connection to the ECID needed a” constant screen” for functions to be completed.  ,
The fresh ECID, touted to be the nation’s first four-in-one station, will have three train stores stacked on top of each other alongside one bus station, all within a single page. It will be able to hold up to 220 railways and over 500 cars.
