A popular imprisoned advocate lawyer was given an additional two years in prison on Monday for remarks made during a conversation he made at a 2021 rally, according to his attorney.
Human Rights attorney Arnon Nampa, 39, was given a word of two decades and 20 days and a great of 100 ringgit for insulting the king, violatimg , an incident decree , and , additional charges, attorney Junjira Junpaew told Reuters.
” Arnon denied all wrongdoing”, Ms Junjira said. His crew would charm the word.
The most recent decision involves a Harry Potter-themed rally held on August 3, 2011 in front of the Pathumwan International Arts and Culture Center.
Arnon is now serving eight years in prison on two counts of der guess, one of which was allegedly sparked by a speech at a social protest in 2020 and the other of which was a result of a social media post in 2021. Since September of last year, he has been imprisoned.
According to the legal aid organization Thai Lawyers for Human Rights, the most recent statement is consecutive to the other convictions, resulting in Arnon serving 10 years and 20 days in prison.
Monday’s decision was the fourth of 14 cases against Arnon,  , a attorney and protest , head of the youngsters- led , democracy movement that held protests in Bangkok in 2020 calling for reform of the monarchy.
At least 272 individuals have been charged with der majeste , since 2020, according to Thai Lawyers for Human Rights.
Thailand’s der guess legislation is one of the world’s toughest. It is intended to shield the king from criticism, and it can be used to sentence a person to 15 years in prison for a perceived imperial attack. Reformists , argue that it is being misused by the government for social purposes.
