After an alleged drunken driving incident that left two men injured while dining at a wayside food shop, the chairman of Nong Bua Daeng Hospital, Chaiyapum, has made the decision to retire earlier.

Phuttha Samadchai announced on Thursday that he had made the decision to end his administrative occupation to battle potential charges involving drunk driving. He also had a year to go into his post at the neighborhood hospital in the northern province of Nong Bua Daeng.

He crashed into a wayside store in the Muang area on Wednesday night, putting an end to his career the following year. Two TV reporters from Amarin Television and Thai Rath TV were hurt in the crash.

Three hours after the incident, Dr. Phuttha refused to perform a breathalyzer check. A later test revealed a 119 milligrams per 100 milliliter of alcohol, much exceeding the 50-milliliter constitutional limit.

His pension plan needs to be approved by the government. If approved, it may suggest he may be eligible for all express retirement benefits.

The government is also looking into the controversy surrounding the controvernous physician. If he is found innocent in the ministry’s analysis or loses a court case, his chances of success could be in trouble.

Police at the Muang police station have not filed charges against him, saying they will wait for the results of Chaiyaphum Hospital’s established alcohol test results and the two wounded people’s medical reports.

The medical director was given permission to leave, but the officers later transferred him to Chayaphum’s Provincial Public Health Office.

The doctor chief and the two wounded TV crew members are being mediated by police.

Pol Col Suksan Traithip, deputy police chief in the city of Chaiyaphum, reported on Thursday that Thai Rath TV’s Thossawat Inpuk demanded$ 300,000 in cash for medical expenses and injuries, but Dr Puttha rejected the request.

Aes Eamphon of Amarin Screen would attend the meeting scheduled for May 15 because he is recovering from an injury in a clinic.
