An Indonesian male abandoned his vessel before swimming to the beach after being convicted four times before in Singapore for immigration offenses and suffering 25 stroke of the cane overall.
On Monday ( Apr 8 ), the 26-year-old man who goes by the name Brick was given a one and a half year prison sentence and nine cane strokes.
He admitted criminal to two counts of entering Singapore without a valid passport and withholding authorization after being legally expelled from the country under the Immigration Act.
When Brick was unable to produce any documentation demonstrating his legal stay in the country, he was detained by Immigration and Checkpoints Authority ( ICA ) officers in March.
At the time of his imprisonment, Brick was never carrying any travel documents.
He was referred to ICA’s research tree, which traced his prints to a man with an “adverse history” under the name of Brick.
For similar emigration crimes, Brick was charged and found guilty in court in November 2019 after being removed from Singapore without a valid passport and returning improperly after being detained.
After serving his sentence, he was detained for imprisonment and given a week’s probation.
Before being deported, Brick received a written see informing him that he needed to obtain due written permission to enter or stay in Singapore in the future and that he would be prohibited from doing so starting on July 10, 2020.
He returned to Indonesia after acknowledging the see with his thumbprint.
End of June 2023, Brick requested reentry for unknown reasons in an empty judge.
He made his way to Singapore by boarding a over and leaving Batam. Before he reached Singapore’s shore, he abandoned his ship and swam to Singapore using an impromptu floating device.
After that, he went into the shallow waters off Tuas and spent nine times in illegal immigration before being arrested by ICA soldiers.
Recent CONVICTIONS
The ICA attorney listed Brick’s previous beliefs, including his November 2019 phrase.
He was given a six-week prison sentence and four cane-stripping for an emigration offense in May 2017.
He was given a 14-week sentence and six wood strikes for the same offense in January 2018, with another one of returning to Singapore improperly in mind.
In July 2019, he was sentenced to 18 months ‘ prisons and seven stroke of the wood for similar crimes.
According to the attorney, Brick was obstinate and entered Singapore without a valid pass and suffered nine cane strokes. He requested a maximum sentence of six months in prison.
He requested two consecutive prison terms after being removed from Singapore and asking for another one week’s in jail.
In prevention, Brick said via a Bahasa Indonesia speaker that he was “deeply guilty”.
Because I work for my home and my mother is currently ill, he said,” I’m looking for the finest words.”
The judge ruled that the boy’s word had to be increased based on his previous criminal convictions, which demonstrated his reluctance and repeated upsetting.
