By the end of the year, the Transport Ministry anticipates that all development initiatives along Rama II Road, also known as Highway 35, will be finished.
The first– the Rama III-Dao Khanong-Western Outer Ring Road expressway project, which is under the supervision of the Expressway Authority of Thailand ( Exat )– is about 87 % completed, Transport Minister Suriya Jungrungreangkit said on Monday.
He claimed that the job is scheduled to be finished by November of this year.
The government has ordered development to become expedited to maintain it can be finished by the end of the year, he said, despite the work being moving ahead of schedule.
The second– the elevated Ekkachai-Ban Phaeo Intercity Motorway 82 ( M82 ) project, which spans 25 kilometres– is also making good progress, he said.
The area between Bang Khuntian and Ekkachai is about 98 % total, while the Ekkachai-Ban Phaeo area is about 70 % complete, Mr Suriya said.
Officials are in the process of finding a personal company to co-invest in the turnpike devices, which should be done by next year, he said, before adding that the M82 is anticipated to open by the end of 2027, despite the fact that the actual design will be finished this time.
According to Mr. Suriya, the government is taking proactive steps to help minimize PM2.5 waste in the area given the scale of the continuous development along Rama II Road.
These include activating a high-pressure watering program in areas where PM2.5 rates exceed 50 microgrammes per square inch, he said.
However, Mr Suriya said improvements to Rural Highway 3004 in Pathum Thani have been completed. The 10.4-km street, which was often greatly overcrowded, then features two roads going in each direction.
The government hopes that it will improve road safety and reduce travel periods.
