A PUB subcontractor from Singapore died on May 23 after inhaling gas sulphur while carrying out pond cleaning at Choa Chu Kang Waterworks.
The oil was inhaled by two different personnel, who are now receiving intensive care.
The event occurred at about 11.15am on Thursday.
When it was discovered that three subcontractors were collapsed, they were carrying out daily container cleaning tasks, according to a PUB statement released on Thursday afternoon.
According to preliminary investigations, the workers had inhaled gas sulphur, a gasoline created by sludge, which is a by-product of the water treatment process.
One of the three workers eventually passed away while another was unconscious and was taken to Ng Teng Fong General Hospital.
A dangerous, unpleasant odor similar to that of rotten eggs or sewage can be found in hydrogen sulphide, a colorless gasoline. It is very dangerous and explosive.
” PUB expresses our deepest sympathies to the deceased’s home. We are in contact with our contractors and may assist the families of the workers, according to the director.
PUB holds that safety and health at all of our organizations are of utmost importance. We may engage entirely with the research”.
The national water company, according to the director, has called a security delay for similar businesses in confined areas and is reviewing the related security measures as a protection.
